Wrestling World on Fire since I’ve been gone!

Well.. I’ve been M.I.A. From the blog world for about 2 weeks, but it’s been a very crazy and busy 2 weeks… Work has been booming with new accounts and business and I’m back training, getting ready to fight again (which I will keep you all up to date with) so it’s been wild. Let me just tell you my schedule for a day in the life of Mike Colon… I wake up at 4:45am and I’m at the gym by 5:15-5:30am. I get my weight training in and I’m showed and out of my superman outfit and into my Clark Kent suit by 7:30am. With a 40 minute drive, I’m at the office by 8:30. I figure out where my accounts are for that day and I’m in queens or Brooklyn or wherever the road takes me by noon. I’m back in town by 3:30-4, finish up some paperwork at the office and I’m back at the gym by 5:30-6. Depending on what day of the week it is, I’m either training boxing, Jiu Jitsu, wrestling (not the wwe style) or Muy Thai and I always finish with a hard cardio workout. I’m home by 9, I do my meal prep for the next day and I’m out cold by 10:30-11. Similar to Paul Heyman’s eat sleep repeat, that’s how it is the next day, it’s repeat… If it’s a Wednesday, I try to be home by 8 just so I can make it in time for Mark’d up, which you can always watch at Marks4life.net…

Crazy schedule right?

But enough with me and my crazy life, let’s Mark out and talk what we all love and that’s wrestling. I’ve missed out on a lot of interesting topics to share my views and opinions about, but I’m back so let’s get the ball rolling!

First off… Here’s when the internet fans begin to cry…
  • Daniel Bryan Injured… Again! Now I don’t know the extent or the time table for the injury is, but he was pulled off of the European tour and may not be in Raw because of it. And the fans went nuts when Roman was chosen for the rumble win and not Bryan… Maybe the WWE made the right decision.. Maybe by not putting the WWE Title on Bryan, it eliminated them having to deal with what they dealt with last year, maybe they knew he would eventually be injured soon again and went with what’s best for their business. This is art imitating life again, Whatever is going on, I hope Bryan a speedy recovery and I also hope that he slows down the intensity in ring to avoid these situations because now he’s known as an injury prone guy.

Adrian Neville… Or just Neville… He has been a subject of conversations lately and both sides make valid points. Most feel that the way he’s being booked is going to kill the character and bury him with him losing every single week, others including myself feel that even though with these loses, he’s getting over. I feel that not only is he being placed against top guys but he’s getting a lot of TV time to showcase what he can do. But now it’s time to have a plan for this guy. To steal the term “One of a kind”, Neville is one of a kind, you don’t get many guys built like him who can move in the ring like him, not to mention he can deliver a 5 star match. The WWE can’t just use this guy as just another guy on the roster, or an Evan Bourne 2.0, they need to start capitalizing on what this guy can do in the ring and start getting him into a program. Going from guys like Rollins and Ziggler to Axel is taking steps backwards and that’s what could hurt him.  ITS TIME FOR A PLAN! What freaks me out is Vince will overlook guys like Neville or Sami Zayn due to their size. It’s sad and it sickens me to say this but a guy like Baron Corbin, who in my opinion is absolutely horible, would get a better push.

  • Taz Quits TNA… I’ve always been a huge Taz fan. The first ever ECW Event I saw was Guilty as Charged 99, when Taz first won the ECW Title… That was ONE of the main reasons why I loved ECW, because of guys like Taz. Now maybe it’s just me, but I’d absolutely LOVE to see Taz calling NXT. Some people don’t like him on commentary but I have to say, he’s much better than who they have on the main roster 3 man team.
There’s so much to touch on but one more thing I’m going to hit was the rumors of UFC Heavyweight Champion Cane Velasquez having a possible future in the WWE… Brock Lesnar just shit himself hearing this… Velasquez was the man who not only beat Lesnar for the title, but made him look like a fool, like a child being whooped by his mother, like he didn’t belong in the cage. Velasquez actually addressed these rumors on The Roman Show (not Roman Reigns) saying “Not anytime soon,” I am focused on this fight against Werdum at UFC 188. Let’s see what happens on my career in fighting although I can never say never. We will just have to wait.” Credit to (The Roman show for the quotes). Velasquez is a natural athlete who can adapt to anything, with the right training down at the performance center and help learning how to cut promos, in my opinion Velasquez would be a special attraction waiting to happen.
I know there’s so much I’ve missed out on in the world of professional wrestling, TNA and their pay issues, The Briscoes resigning with ROH, things like that are good topics to dive in on, but I don’t want to overload too much right now, I’m just happy to finally have time to do what I love and that’s write about wrestling. Tonight I’m headed to Raw live in Albany NY, so I’m sure to have a good piece this week about that. And for those who will be at Raw tonight, come say hi, I’ll be in section 125 Row N.
Happy Monday Marks!

Raw Ramble, NJPW and Jerome from Brooklyn…

So raw was ok, I enjoyed the Rollins/Neville… Roman Reigns got a pretty good pop, look at the progress.. His interview with Renee Young however, kind of freaked me out as he told Her “wait till you see what I do next” and proceeded to cock his wrist for the camera… I didn’t want to know what he does next after that… what you do on your time Roman is none of my business..

Enough with raw, I want to talk about my experience I had near Barclays Center on Tuesday which is WWE related and something I’ll never forget… So I’m driving in Brooklyn for work, and I happen to drive pass the Barclys Center, home of the 2015 SummerSlam… As I’m driving down Atlantic ave, I Stop at a restaurant right around the corner from Barclays called TonyRoma’s to use the bathroom, possibly grab a bite before heading home. As I got out of my car, I notice a man who looked like the character Jerome from the old Show Martin. He was outside in the parking area with a box… I walk by paying no mind and he yells to me “yo young blood, come peep this right here”…

Looking for some great entertainment with no fear of possibly getting robbed in broad day light, I walk over to this gentleman who will now be called Jerome because I never got his name. “You know what’s happening right?” Jerome says to me, “no, I don’t” I replay. Jerome begins to look around as he is about to revel something so top secret, no one else can know. “That summa” (not summer) “that SummaSlaaaaam is coming so you gots to get these authentics teeee shirts my dude”.(put some emphases behind the”eeee” when u say “teeee shirts and that’s how he said it”
Ok these shirts were not authentic.. He reaches in his box and pulls out these bootleg shirts with Iron On WWE Logos and pictures… One was a fucking SummerSlam Logo from like 2005, 10 years too late to be selling those shirts and he begins to say “I normally don’t do this, but I give it to you for $35”.  I simply said “no”. Oh but Jerome is a committed salesman and a committed Salesman doesn’t take the first no as an answer… You got to keep trying to intrigue the buyer and that’s what Jerome did… He tried… Hard! He began telling me that he could throw in a John Cena Thug Life Shirt…. His go to pitch for selling me this shirt was “I live the Real Thug life everyday, you can live it too with dis shirt right here!”… On any other pedestrian, they may have bought the shirt out of fear, but  “No” I replied….
If you’re keeping score at home, that’s two no’s now and he’s got one more pitch before he gets the final no. See in the world of sales, you don’t push after that third no, before getting that third no, you have to pitch the product as if it’s better than sex… or whatever you people find amazing, You pitch it like its better than that!
“Ight check it, I gots you dis SummaSlam shirt, dis right here Cena Shirt” and he reached deep into his box of bootleg WWE shirts and says “I got dis Paul Heyman shirt right here for Ya”… Now this wasn’t your normal Paul Heyman shirt.. For starters it was a youth small… I’M NOT THAT TINY BRO!  And It was a solid white shirt, with an iron on old attitude era logo on the back and large black letters on the front that said… (And I am deeply and truly sorry if I offend anyone by repeating this) “I’m a Paul Heyman N****”…. I can’t make this shit up… Even if it was my size, I could never wear it, ESPECIALLY IN BROOKLYN!!! I’d get killed!
I respectfully declined, bought him some shrimp not just because he asked 3 times if I could get him some shrimp, but because he put up one hell of an effort to sell me these horrible WWE shirts… We shared a good laugh and I told him to look out for me in August because I will be here for “SummaSlam”and maybe I’ll buy a shirt. And we went our separate ways…  I’m sure some how, some way, Jerome and I will meet again come “SummaSlam”
Real quick, if you haven’t watched NJPW Invasion Attack 2015, you need to figure out a way to turn off the WWE Product for bit and tune into this somehow… This was an absolutely amazing show and if you thought the RKO finish from WrestleMania was crazy, watch the finish in the Main Event featuring AJ Styles VS Kota Ibushi… This was not only a match of the year candidate but it pulls the carpet out from underneath the Orton/Rollins RKO finish for Finish of the year if there was ever such an award… The RKO mania finish looked beautiful, it was seamless the way they did it but the Styles/Ibushi finish was a much higher degree of difficulty… This was Ibusi hitting a Phoenix Splash off the top rope, caught in Mid air into a Styles Clash!!!! Just envision that In your mind… There were other great matches, you had Kenny Omega in an epic match VS Máscara Dorada, The Kingdom Defeating Bullet Club for the IWGP Tag titles… a must watch event… It’s NJPW Invasion Attack 2015… WATCH IT!

That’s My Heel Turn!

Building to 32

Ok so Wretlemania is behind us now… But I’m goning to live off of the event for one last time… So even though the Royal Rumble is pretty much booked as being the beginning of the Road to WrestleMania, in my mind, the road begins the night after mania. Call me crazy but I’ve always saw it as that road truly never ends, especially behind the scenes.

It’s kind of like preparing a city for the Olympics except you don’t need 4 years in between.  With all the planning, booking, I’m sure the process is nuts. And everything that I just mentioned, I’m sure is a small portion of the behind the scenes road to Wrestlemania.

Then you the on screen Road to WRESTLEMANIA that never ends. One thing that helps the road progress now is character growth. Prime example: WrestleMania 30, Seth Rollins was in a 6 man tag and he wasn’t the dominate person who stood out, Roman Reigns was. As time went on we saw Rollins elevate his game and adjust with the times as he turned on his brothers of the Shield and broke out on his own… As time went on, He evolved and we watched the growth happen right before our own eyes. Fast forward to this years mania and Rollins is Walking out your world heavyweight champion by pinning his former brother and shield mate, Roman Reigns.

That’s how part of the road is constructed on screen, through growth… We WANT to see the rise or fall, the success or struggle of a character as time goes on and when April comes and it’s WrestleMania Week, we get the pay off we want.

So wrestleMania 31 is in the books and you now have wrestleMania 32 down the road… How does the WWE break their attendance record of 93,173 at AT&T Stadium Next year in Dallas?  They start constructing that road now. Not necessarily telling us things this early, but hinting what we can see… Example: There are two scenarios the WWE could go with for next year because it was hinted to us… Kind of like dangling a piece of meat over a tiger and he knows he’s going to get it but can’t get it right away… During the build up for Lesnar VS Reigns,  Paul Heyman kept bringing up how there was Never a Brock VS Rock 2… The IWC blew up over that! That was the talk for next years Mania and at the time we haven’t even got to the present Mania. Then there was the tease of The Rock and Triple H from this past mania… See that’s what you call building anticipation. Now we don’t exactly know what direction they may go next year with The Rock, but we do know that either direction is a the right direction to go!

Besides Character Growth, besides the hints of much anticipated rematches, what else can add to the road construction for WrestleMania 32, making it a success? Ahh yes…. How could I forget, The Dead Man…

I truly felt a loss to Wyatt at this past Mania would have helped tell a compassionate and compelling story leading into next years mania of if The Undertaker can still win the big one or is he broken down, can he relive that thrill of victory or is he too old… Others may feel different but in my opinion, the WWE left money on the table by letting Taker win this year. Not just because of the whole passing the torch to Wyatt, but because a loss doesn’t hurt Taker this year, a loss helps build the anticipation of seeing him finally win Next year after experiencing a bit of a losing streak, which what could also be his last match too. All that in one basket, that’s a recipe for success.  I’m all about the story telling and that could have been an epic story to be told about a man who was once unstoppable, trying to climb back to that status for one last time. It adds more emotion to his match and you may even be able to close out the show with him.  But hey, my opinion gets me no further than Any other mark taking about Taker… as long as The Undertaker is on the card, it sells itself. Let’s just hope we get the match we’ve all been wanting!

Whatever the WWE decides to do to get 100,000 fans at next years Mania, they need to start building brick by brick now, paving the Road so it’s not as bumpy as the last ride. Speaking of the last ride on the road… It was a road with a lot of bad detours but a great destination… If the WWE starts building a much more cleared road to Mania next year… With the potential they have, not only will they break records, but this could be the greatest WrestleMania of all time!

And That’s my Heel Turn!

The Greatest Build up for ANY Event!

Here’s a special edition of My Heel Turn… I talk about wrestling so much that I forget to bring up my Other Passion and that’s MMA. How could I possibly forget where I came from…

Let’s talk about something that I have ABSOLUTELY LOVED this entire week and that’s the Build up for UFC 189: Aldo VS McGregor. Fellow marks, follow me on this now… You will be hooked even if you’re not a fan…

First off you have the challenger, Connor McGregor, who is the BIGGEST heel in MMA and could possibly be a big heel in the world of wrestling some day if that were to ever happen! He talks a lot of trash and backs it up. He gets into his opponents heads and is very entertaining in the process. Not to mention He can cut a Promo and can fight! McGregor is head and shoulders above any fight personality with the exception of Floyd Mayweather.

Then there’s the Reigning, Defending, Undisputed… UFC Featherweight champion of the World (Kinda took a page from Heyman) Jose Aldo, who hasn’t been defeated since 2005. Aldo isn’t much of a trash talker, not due to the fact that he speaks little English, but it’s not in his nature. However, with an upcoming opponent like McGregor, you have to defend yourself with the verbal warfare.

Now granted this fight is not until July 11th but the UFC are already promoting this with a World Title Tour and putting out a miniseries on YouTube promoting the fight called UFC Embedded.  This is a stroke of genius to document this promotional tour, this is maybe the most successful promotional job any company has ever done. If you’re not an MMA fan, this might make you find an interest in this fight.
The UFC had produced 10, 5-7 minute episodes documenting the world tour starting in Brazil, hitting cities like Vegas, LA, NYC, Boston, London and wrapping up in Ireland.
Now I know some of the Marks who read this aren’t a fan of MMA or only followed it because of Lesnar or are following to see CM Punk, but I highly suggest to invest the time and watch these Episodes of UFC Embedded. Now this is the MMA World which is different from Pro wrestling, but maybe the WWE should take a page out of the UFC’s book on how to build a fight. WrestleMania was everything I hoped it would be, amazing… but the build up was not one of their best and could have been better.
This build up to UFC 189 has that car wreck mentality where you can’t look away once you see it. I promise that when you watch episode 1 of UFC Embedded, there is no way you will turn down watching the others. Both Participants in this fight were phenomenal on making the viewers believe that this is the biggest event EVER. What also sold this fight was in episode 1, the key line that wasn’t what McGregor said, yet he did say a lot, but it was Aldo, after the stare down, in the back, and you just hear the words in broken English “I’m mad now”….. If I’m the UFC, I’m seeing nothing but Dollar signs!

My favorite part of this whole thing was not just the constant heel like trash talking from McGregor, but in Episode 10, in front of thousands of Irish Fans, McGregor steals the title belt from Aldo… And not in the cartoonish style of stealing a belt used to build the IC title match at Mania. This place blew up, and the crowd lost their mind! If that doesn’t sell you than you don’t have a pulse because you’re not human.
These two men have done one of the best build ups for a fight or even any wrestling match I can recall. Paul Heyman did an amazing job selling us on WrestleMania, but this build up for UFC 189 eclipses it by a long shot. The promotional tour and the UFC Embedded miniseries has set the expectation levels extremely high and I suggest all wrestling fans to give it a chance and watch and I’m sure it won’t just be Lesnar or CM Punk discussed when the UFC is brought up. I am emotionally invested into this event and we are only 3 months away.
Get your popcorn ready, here’s episode one… Remember there’s 9 more after! http://youtu.be/A0UFUhsSsXU
That’s my Heel Turn!

Fans Hijack Raw after Mania… Again!

Every year I look forward to WrestleMania, it’s what every wrestling fan does. But now, wrestling fans including myself, look forward to the Raw After Mania. It’s not just because of the surprises, the introduction to new rivalries or the NXT call ups. It’s because of the crowd, the fans, how they hijack the show with chants and make statements! They let their voices be heard not just by the WWE but by the millions watching around the world. From chili, the UK, to Germany and Canada, fans travel from all around the world to be apart of WrestleMania week and the Final destination of the WrestleMania vacation segways right into Monday Night Raw.

I had to watch Raw again to relive the chants and this time I took notes. I broke down my favorite segments and made it clear to breakdown the chants we heard from this crazy yet passionate crowd…. Raw Opened up the way it should have opened… With Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman. The crowd was HOT for Heyman and his advocate who he now calls “The Non PG ass kicker in the PG era”. From that one comment, it really set the tone for this Raw. Now you can say whatever you want about the WWE, but they are aware of what the criticisms of their product are because they essentially use them all to their favor throughout tonight’s show. As Heyman went on, there was a Suplex City chant, which is sweeping the internet since mania.
After that opening segment, the crowd is hot and what better way to keep them hot is with Daniel Bryan VS Dolph Ziggler. The crowd was absolutely into this match, especially with the headbutt spot which got the biggest reaction of this match. This was a crowd how appreciates wrestling and were so impressed that at one point they just stood up and applauded. Then this is where the chants start to get interesting… Bad News Barrett does a run in leading to Sheamus making his return with a new look, which triggered the crowd to chant “YOU LOOK STUPID”.
Going into the second hour, after the Debut of Kalisto which the crowd was hot for, we have our WWE Title match between Brock Lesnar VS Seth Rollins…. Or so we thought. Seth finds away out of the match and escapes before Lesnar kills him. This lead into one of the best segments so far this year as Lesnar just goes Psycho, pretty much Flipping the announce table, murdering JBL and Booker T and as Michael Cole tried getting away, Lesnar grabbed him and hit him with probably one of the most violent F5’s I have seen. Then for the hell of it, Lesnar kills a Camera man and the crowd just went nuts! Ladies and gentlemen, TV-PG has taken the night off…
Lesnar has become the Biggest Babyface in the company by just being an intense psychopath and even though everything is scripted and it’s fake, he feels so real. Whatever the WWE signed him for, it was worth ever single penny.
John Cena comes out and of course gets not just the loud boos, but the crowd Chants “John Cena Sucks” in the tune of his theme which I love! Ambrose comes out who gets a very large pop… If the WWE doesn’t notice how loved he is by now, then we will never see Ambrose in a main event program anytime soon.
As the crowd got hotter through the night, then comes the Divas. This Crowd gave these girls a chance alright… If you watch this match and listen carefully you can hear the following Chants:
-We Want Bally
-No More Bella’s
-We Want Tables
After that, The rest of this consisted of what random chants this crowd can come up with. We had:
-CM Punk chants which were FINALLY drowned out with chants of AJ Lee.
Nikki Bella gets in the ring and a chant of “YOU SUCK CENA” begins. Then Brie Bella is in the ring and chants of “YOU SUCK BRYAN” began. At this point I think the crowd realized that you can do this chant on every single girl in the ring as a “YOU SUCK TYSON” chant broke out for Natty and a “YOU SUCK USO” chant for Naomi. They truly helped the WWE promote Total Divas with this one. They then Began chanting “The Bella’s Suck” in the tune of John Cena’s Theme. Eventually the crowd grew a heart and chanted “Let’s go Divas”.
Rusev VS Goldust feature a “WE WANT LANA” and “YOURE NOT RUSSIAN” chants.
Then comes the main event that the crowd completely Hijacked. Whatever goodwill Roman Reigns built up when taking the beating of a lifetime at mania, had an expiring date tonight as the crowd were right back to not caring about this guy. This crowd for the next 15 minutes completely took a shit on this match. It was like the crowd realized this was their main event and just like a cop needing to get out speeding tickets at the end of the month, this crowd needed to get out ALL their chants before the end of the night. The chants were:
-“Worse than Cena”
-“This is Boring”
-“We want Cena” (which shock me)
-“NXT”
-Ole chants
They chanted the names of Sami Zyan, Hideo and Kevin Owens.
They also Chanted “Breeze is Gorgeous” is reference to NXT Superstar and SuperModel Tyler Breeze. They Chanted “How you doing” In reference to my now favorite tag team, Enzo and Bug Cass. “Please Retire”, “Same old shit” we’re also chanted, then the best part happen, this crowd began to do The Wave…  Which looked amazing on tv. Then they closed out with a “WE ARE AWESOME” giving theirselves a pat on the back for hijacking this lack luster main event match.
This is always the best Raw of the Year! With the exception of the main event, the writing team did an amazing job writing this past Raw for the hardcore fans with longer divas match, kill Michael Cole, NXT call ups, Brock Lesnar goes crazy… I wish every raw was written like this but what the true story of the show was about were the best fans in the world, professional Wrestling fans!
That’s my Heel Turn!

The Main Event Heard around the World

So I said In my last blog that this was a good week to be a wrestling fan. You had Fan Axxess, WrestleCon, there was a Ring of Honor show and then an NXT show Friday that from what I heard was amazing. There were a lot more events being held during the week but All these events lead up to the Superbowl of professional wrestling, WrestleMania.

The WWE truly pulled the rabbit out of the hat and I am still on a wrestling high right now! From the pre show to the main event, this had me fully invested. As much as I want to talk about the entire card, I don’t want this to be a novel due to the fact that there’s so many good thing to say. I am just going right into the main event because this was truly my favorite match of the night.

From the second Raw went off the air on January 26th, I became a fan of this Main Event program. While everyone bashed it, complained about how Roman Reigns wasn’t ready, he was going to choke, I gave it a chance because I don’t like to knock anything until I try it. As the road to mania continued, I found the build up to be rather interesting… Mostly because of Paul Heyman putting this program on his back and taking it to a level that no one thought it would go. Then Lesnar Resigns with the company and that completely changed everything! Now fast forward to WrestleMania…

From beginning to end, Lesnar and Reigns told an epic story in the ring. These two were actually connecting with shots, adding that realism to the match. And Jesus Christ, Brock is a Psychopath, he busted himself open hard way Hitting the ring post Which added so much to this match.
Now granted, Lesnar was putting a beating on Reigns the majority of the match, Reigns still told a story of the fallen and beaten guy with a strong come from behind rally. Reigns truly had you buying in that he was actually going to beat Brock Lesnar. I have nothing but respect for Roman Reigns for taking the beating that he did. I don’t care what people say, he’s now ready. He told a great story in a BIG event match and that’s all we needed from him.
Now this is where the true magic happens…

Whoever wrote this match, I take my hat off to. Props to WWE for coming up with a brilliant way to end this match. Just when the match was getting good, Seth Rollins Music hits and he runs to the ring with his Money in the Bank Contract. Everyone predicted a cash in by Rollins, but no one saw him coming during the match, making it a triple threat while both guys were beaten and battered. This not only helped raise Seth Rollins Stock, but you still have two guys in Reigns and Lesnar who still look strong and the end didn’t hurt anyone. This was the perfect way to book this match.
Their are so many options now for the next couple of months to come. You can have those matches that doesn’t involve a title with Lesnar… Never seen before, Lesnar VS Orton… You can push a title program with Roman and Rollins and some how down the road I can see a Rollins/Ambrose feud revisited. The next couple of months is looking to be must see TV.
I am going on record to say right now that this was probably my favorite WrestleMania of all time. For a mania with a lack luster build up, this show was amazing. From beginning to end it was pure entertainment for all wrestling fans and we all got to witness history with the first ever WrestleMania Cash in. For those who campaigned the who #CancelWWENetwork, jokes on you for canceling.

WrestleMania Excitement!

As I get ready for my weekend trip to Atlantic City, I realize that we are 2 days away from WrestleMania!!! Unfortunately I will not be able to watch the Hall of Fame live, but I will be back in town just in time to get ready for the Pre show.

With Lesnar Resigning, WrestleCon going on, NXT being Showcased, fan Axxess is happening, WrestleMania week has truly become every wrestling fans dream. Not to mention WaleMania is going on this weekend… Not many wrestling fans would really care for this but I am actually a huge Wale fan and he’s having a Wrestling themed concert with a Rey Mysterio interview Held Prior. So much wrestling in a 7 day span and I LOVE IT!
So I don’t want to do a Mania prediction because that’s been done all week by many others and I don’t want to follow the beaten path. The only prediction I will give however, is regardless of how WrestleMania was booked this year, I feel we will be in for a great show this Sunday night. With that being said, I just want to share my excitement and pick certain things I look forward to.
First off is the main Event… People put this down a lot due to the lack of experience in Roman Reigns and the lack of appearances from Lesnar. But with Lesnar resigning, this adds so much more to the match up. There are so many more options on how this closes out and it’s not an open and close case that Reigns is defiantly winning. Plus it gives us some life after mania because there’s so many new programs Lesnar can be placed in. Fellow Marks4Life Blogger Josh Hill said it best in his article on Lesnar, “Now, knowing Brock isn’t leaving after WrestleMania this year, it opens the door to the possibility that Brock Lesnar just might be carrying on as WWE Champion.”
Hideo Itami has won the Right to enter into the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. This actually shocked me that they went with Itami, especially with the popularity of Balor or Adrian Neville coming up to the main roster soon, but I’m actually ok with this move. Especially with Tatsumi Fujinami being inducted into this years WWE Hall of Fame, it’s actually a very good move on the WWE to get the International coverage they need to push the Network. We are all predicting Ryback or Mizdow to win this, but with Itami added to the Mix, this could be the Former international Superstars breakout moment.
As much as I bashed the 7 man Ladder match and its build up, (let’s keep it real, it was horrible) this will probably be the most entertaining match on the card… But I still think Ziggler VS Bryan should be showcased on its own and stardust doesn’t belong but hey, I can’t truly knock it until it’s over.
Let’s talk about the Diva’s promo on Smackdown…. I rarely rave about the Diva’s Division due to how they are booked but the promo that was on Smackdown sold the Diva’s Match for me. This promo should have been on raw, in front of a larger viewing audience in my opinion. Nikki Bella truly shinned as that Bitch heel and showed that once given the opportunity to just go, she can come through in the clutch. If you haven’t seen this promo, I suggest you watch it.
This is probably my favorite time of the year. If you’re a football fan, you go crazy on super bowl Sunday because you looked forward to this all season long! Well this is my Superbowl Sunday. Even with a horrible ending to a good go home show, I look forward to this event. With the pre show, WE ARE GETTING 6 HOURS OF WRESTLING!!! Its a good time to be a wrestling fan, Get Excited, this feeling only happens once a year!

My Late Night Raw Ramble

So before I go into my ramble about Raw, I just want to address something for the people to know. For the Millions….. And Millions… of readers who read my blog, I managed to have Vince Russo block me on Twitter… Yes Vince F’n Russo! For the younger fans, he was the man who killed WCW. Here’s how it went down…  I’m sorry, don’t be mad at me because I tweeted the truth! You know what, We can build this up better than the build up for WrestleMania, trending world wide… or just in my head,  #RussoVSColon, cell phone on a pole match or whatever God Damn gimmick match this idiot can come up with! Feud of the year!… Ok now that I got that out of my system, let’s get to the point of this blog…

Ok so everyone saw Raw so there’s no need for a full recap so I’m just going to pick and choose bits and pieces to talk about in no order whatsoever… That’s why it’s called a Raw Ramble…

Sting opens up Raw cutting a decent promo saying fighting for WCW would just be ridiculous…. Pretty much saying he doesn’t give a shit about WCW and not to attach him to it. Did anyone notice that stings voice sounds a little different from two weeks ago? Then the sexiest woman on the main roster Stephanie McMahon comes out and cuts an amazing promo leading up to Paul Levesque coming out, reminding me that Stephanie had three of his children and none of mine…

The Tug of War for the Heavyweight Title…

This was not the way to close out your Go Home show before WrestleMania. These two looked like little kids fighting over a toy. When Roman first snatched the belt, I thought to myself, “Dear god, please don’t run away, taking a page out of the IC title match!” Old school wrestling fans will get this… when I saw this tug of war over the belt, what came to mind was WCW Superbrawl 93, Sting and Vader’s tug of war in the White Castles of Fear… I don’t even think the White Castle of Fear could have helped this segment. Heyman did everything he could in the beginning, which is always gold and then it bombed faster than Roman forgetting his Lines at TLC…

R-Truth wrestled a match for the first time since Little Jimmy was declared missing…
10 man tag match to promote the Andre the Giant Battle Royal… I could not possibly care about this battle royal if The Miz and Mizdow weren’t apart of it. Their feud has been the best build this entire road to WrestleMania.. Bill Simmons was our guest commentator, who in my opinion was better than R-Trith.  One thing that stood out was Simmons asking JBL “Where’s the Rabbit?”… I also saw that Zach Ryder’s losing streak came to an end… that hit me just as hard as Brock ending The Undertaker’s streak… Moving on…
Snoop dog is in the ring…. Where is Brock Lesnar when you need him to kill someone. #AxelMania interrupts #SnoopMania which sets up #HulkAMania to make an entrance. We get to see one of the saddest looking pose offs in Hulk-A-Mania History… If Andre was the night Hulk-A-mania would live forever, this posedown was a damn argument for the complete opposite. Snoop also made most out of shape individuals feel much better about their self. By the way, after seeing Snoop and Hulk Hogan together, I couldn’t get the rap song Hogan did called “Beach Patrol” out of my head.
During the interspecies tag team match, the whole time I was thinking “what is Paul Stanley thinking right now watching a Woman wrestle a little person?” Speaking of celebrities in the Crowd, ZEUS himself, Tiny Lister was sitting behind Michael Cole for the First 10 minutes of Raw. I’m sure he was told he was a distraction and was asked to move or he would lose his front row seat…
Rusev VS Jack Swagger, one more time just incase we missed it the first 12 times… No need to go into it, it explains itself but During the Rusev/Cena encounter, the one thing I couldn’t stop laughing about was when Rusev threw Cena into the barricade, I heard a fan yell, “you killed him, you really killed him”… this fan was obviously concerned for Cena’s life.
Poor commentary for a match between Ziggler and Bryan, which should be on the WrestleMania card in my opinion. But hey, my opinion doesn’t matter, I’m just a Mark with a dream.
I could continue going on about this past raw bullshitting and having fun, but I don’t wanna take away from the fact that it actually was a good show with the exception of the end. Regardless of that ending, it’s a good week to be a wrestling fan, we are 6 days away from WrestleMania and no matter how bad most of the build up is, I’m sure we are in for a good show come Sunday.

Brock Lesnar VS All

No intro today, I’m going right into it… First off, let me go on by saying that Brock Lesnar is the luckiest man on earth. Lesnar has two companies, The WWE and The UFC who want his ink on a contract. I’m not sure what perks Lesnar will get out of a UFC contract but so far with his current WWE contract, he has limited appearances and when he does show up, he gets a private jet from the company to bring him to whatever city they are in. He gets paid a ridiculously large amount of money to just walk to the ring, jump up on the apron and stand there saying nothing while having the best seat in the house to Paul Heyman. Oh, not to mention he only wrestles at the big events…. But I do gotta say, when Lesnar shows up to defend, he puts on a hell of performance.

Now a lot of people don’t like the schedule Lesnar works, especially as champion. But truthfully in my opinion, (I can’t wait to get heat on this one) I have no problem with it. The World Title with Brock having it, it has legitimized it if you think about it. Title matches actually mean something now when Brock is defending and whether you want to admit it or not, you’re invested into the TV when he’s on. Lesnar is this monster heel who is holding the title hostage, defending it when it’s right. You don’t see the belt every day but when you do, it means something. Yeah it pisses people off because that’s not how a champion in wrestling should be booked, but the days of your super hero champions for now are over until further notice. Brock’s limited appearances/title defenses plays into his character. Plus you’re not seeing a title change every single week and what makes it so much more special is when that title change does happen, it’s going to be an incredible moment.

Now this is where a lot of the “Die hard Lesnar fans” get a little offended because I’m about to keep it real. During Lesanr’s time in the UFC, he won the UFC heavyweight title in a very thin division. He was a big fish in a small pond. He beat guys who are now retired or are close to retirement but still trying to inch their way back into the top 10. Now it was very unfortunate that his diverticulitis happened during his time on top, but even that I don’t see as an excuse as to why he lost his title. The competition just started to grow and Lesnar just wasn’t evolving.

Current UFC Heavyweight Rankings

Since Lesnar left the UFC, the sport itself has evolved without him. That heavyweight division that Lesnar left behind has grown with the worlds best fighters. Yeah Lesnar will get a big pay day if he comes back, he’s a big draw. But I’m sorry to hurt some feelings, but Lesnar WILL NOT beat anyone in the Top Ten. Put Lesnar against the current champ Cain Velasquez, your beast that took the streak from the undertaker and was build into this monster by the WWE, will look like a child getting beat with a belt by his mother… I could go on and on but you should get my point by now and if you don’t, then you’re just a hardcore wrestling fan who is in denial. Eat, Sleep, Beatdown, Repeat! That’s the theme of Lesnar’s UFC run… Only not in his favor.
From the WWE standpoint, if they are still trying to resign Lesnar, they have to do it tonight, especially when they need to book a finish for this Sunday’s WrestleMania. There’s so many scenarios we can see on Sunday but that only can be determined if Lesnar is resigning or if he’s saying bye for now.
I personnel think it’s a better business decision for Brock to resign with the WWE, for financial and health reasons at most. I’ve never been in a wrestling ring but I have been in a cage and I know what it’s like to train. Can Lesnar, at 37 years old still train at a world class level? No one truly knows.
We can all be sitting here speculating what is Lesnar going to do. but in reality, maybe his ink could already be on a WWE contract and we are all just feeding in to the rumors, playing right into the hands of the puppet master himself, Vince McMahon.

Wrestling Isn’t Wrestling

So this week there has been a lot of buzz in the wrestling world over a video that hit the Internet… It’s a video called “Wrestling Isn’t Wrestling” by Max Landis.

This is such a fantastic video put together that tells the story of the career and growth in Character of Triple H. There’s a laundry list of appearances such as Colt Cabana, Joey Ryan, former WWE ring announcer Justin Roberts, Crime Time and many other familiar faces from not just professional wrestling, but from Hollywood too.

If you haven’t seen it, I can’t do this video much justice by describing it, but one thing that stood out to me and made the video such a great piece of work was Landis hired an all female cast to play Triple H and all his rivals and allies over the past 20 years.

This is well put together, well produced and very Funny. The best part is, it’s completely out of the hands for the WWE to block this or have it taken down because not one copy write is infringed in this entire video.

Yeah there’s a lot of stuff left out but who cares? Landis took a story of one of the most dominant wrestlers in the history of the business and made it intriguing to follow, especially for someone who isn’t familiar with it. He explains who Triple H was, where he came from and how he built his empire.

If you Haven’t seen this video yet, stop wasting time and do it! I highly recommend it, It’s the best 24 minutes and 13 seconds you will see and at the end of it, you will want more.
